Before joining Wasatch Academy, Todd taught at several boarding schools including the Williston Northampton School, Idyllwild Arts Academy, The Winchendon School, and The MacDuffie School.

He has taught a wide range of high school subjects, including American Literature, US History, World Literature, Global Studies, World Geography, Asian Religions and Philosophy, Chinese Language, and various English Language Learner (ELL) classes. He has also coached football, basketball, baseball, and soccer.

Todd has developed a unique teaching and coaching style over the last 25 years based on engagement, humility, and humor. He likes to spend his free time traveling, watching Boston area sports teams, playing golf, and eating sushi. His family includes wife Naomi, a native of Japan, who is a learning coach at the academy, and two children. His daughter, Ayano, did a postgraduate year at Wasatch Academy in 2018 and now lives and works in the Bay Area of California. Son Jadon graduated in 2020 and is now a sophomore at Utah State University studying mechanical engineering.
