Wasatch’s Manu de Oliveira commits to University of Florida women’s Basketball Team

The Gators have landed a standout from Wasatch Academy.

Emanuely (Manu) De Oliveira announced on January 15, that she has given a verbal commitment to attend the University of Florida of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and plans to join the program this fall on a full ride scholarship.

“Manu is one of the top players in the state of Utah. I believe she is the best all-around player in the state and one of the top guards in the country. She can play with anyone, her skills are polished, and she has a tremendous work ethic,” said Tony Giannotti, Wasatch Academy Head Girls’ Basketball Coach.

Manu, who is originally from Brazil, has had an impressive season averaging nearly a triple-double at 19 points per game, 11-rebounds per game, and 7-steals per game. The 6’0” guard has been a vital player in supporting the team to having an undefeated region schedule and becoming the Utah State Region 17 undisputed champions. “She doesn’t just score, she distributes the ball, she handles the ball against the press, and when we need a basket, she comes through,” stated Ty Kennedy, Assistant Head of School for Student Life.

While Manu had several different offers on the table, joining the Gators felt like the perfect fit. “I liked everything,” she said. “I felt comfortable with the school, the coaches, the players. They made me feel like I was already part of the team.”

Manu is excited to sign her Letter of Intent to University of Florida on April 11, 2018, during National Signing Day.
