JASON YANG
EDUCATION
Ph.D. Educational Leadership BYU
—
Jason attended what he calls “military camp-style boarding schools” for his middle school and high school years. Most of his childhood memories are of taking exams and working to achieve high rankings in class under the suffocating pressure to climb the education ladder every step of the way.
Before coming to the U.S. in 2000, Jason was a lecturer and later a foreign affairs officer at a university in Qingdao, China. He feels lucky to have been able to experience a different kind of education at Brigham Young University from which he earned a Ph.D. in educational leadership. It is due to the arduous and uninspiring education of his childhood that he envies the Wasatch Academy students who have the luxury to be who they are while receiving a world-class education in a beautiful, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
Jason is passionate about helping students grow and succeed. He has been actively involved in the cultural and educational exchange between China and the US for the past two decades. When not at work, Jason likes to spend time with his family, hike the many beautiful trails in Utah’s mountains, watch movies, and listen to all kinds of music.
