Naomi was born and raised in Japan. She attended Showa College of Music where she studied voice. She performed with the Beethoven No.9 choir in her hometown for many years.

Naomi started working at Wasatch Academy in 2017 as a substitute teacher and a study hall proctor. She joined the Learning Services Department as a Learning Coach in 2018, and she has also tutored students learning the Japanese language. Naomi and her husband Todd Bucklin, a social studies teacher at Wasatch Academy, often host international students who do not go home during breaks.

Before joining Wasatch Academy, Naomi worked at several boarding schools in California and Massachusetts where she held positions in admissions, as a dining hall assistant manager, as assistant front desk staff, and as an Asian cuisine chef. When not coaching, she enjoys cooking, baking, and gardening in the school community garden.
